Just a few miles south of the 'Amani' is 'Diani Beach'. A very popular place for the residents of Mombasa, many hotels, bars, restaurants and shops are to be found here along the 18km of beach front. 'Robinson Island' is also located here, a sand bar (island) which is exposed at Low Water, and offers great/safe snorkeling for young and old. Daily fully escorted trips to 'Diani Beach' and 'Robinson Island' with Baracuda Diving Team are available from the water sports office. surface of the reef. Most of these are the colourful fishes that are commonly associated with coral reefs. Including,
Wrasse, Damsel fish, Butterfly, Surgeon, Parrot, Angle fish, and Snappers.
Approximately 30% of reef fishes are cryptic reef species, seldom noticed by the casual observer. Most are
generally small and well camouflaged. Moray eels, Gobies and Scorpion fish fit this category.
Approximately 10% of reef fishes are primarily nocturnal, emerging at night to feed on the top of the reef system.
